Notes about the Quarry:

The depth at the bottom of the quarry right now is 375 ft. under the sea level and they plan to excavate until they reach 500 ft. under sea level.

Reclamation plan: In the future a Olympia lake will possibly exist. They believe that by letting the water raise  it will reach the natural level, however that level will possibly be below the river level if they don't build a direct connection with the river.

The scale: 

Is easy to be confused about the size of the quarry, inside I lost the sense of scale, to have an idea look at this:

We could fit 5 Death Valleys horizontally.

2. FILL THE VOID

The reclamation plan for this quarry was to fill the void, however residents and community are opposed because of all the movement and problems that it will bring:
"Using a geotechnical report from Pells Sullivan Meyninc , protestors are claiming the restoration would require a truck load of fill every five minutes for 40 hours a week over more than 20 years. The report also found that the reclamation would cost $55 million to complete, a fact the council disputes".
